“By cataloging every conceivable human skin tone, Angélica Dass illustrates that skin color and race are more complex than they might appear at first glance.”
We’ve been studying the work of Angélica Dass, whose work beautifully challenges how we think about skin color and ethnic identity. We watched her TED talk as homework and started class with some interesting questions and discussions about her work. Now, our private students are busy writing, planning, and photographing their projects to share next week.
On a personal note, we are still getting used to not meeting with our students in-person, and while it’s not ideal, we’ve been able to make it work so far thanks to our students and their families for trusting us during this stressful period. Sending you more hugs.
